THE EARLIEST OLD PRINT OF LUTSK: LANGUAGE AND GENRE SPECIFICITY

The article outlines the ways of the birth of Ukrainian book printing and the appearance of the oldest landmark of printing in Volyn region on its background – «Лямент…», 1628. The historical prerequisites for the initial printing are clarified. The specifics of the «Лямент…» genre are characterized as well as its connection to the traditions of Ukrainian literature, in particular to folklore and laments. The article pays special attention to the peculiarities of the vocabulary and phraseology of the landmark, observes the presence of traditional language elements in the analyzed text and emphasizes the presence of vernacular forms, which corresponded to the trends of the formation of literary language on a vernacular basis.
