The article is devoted to the etymological analysis of eleven lexemes of the Old Ukrainian language: жүшмо, повеликий, людці, огнивий, жεгало, умεртьε, свесть, споломъ, *бεзсѧда, заутриє, братя. For the etymological procedure, the author draws on the available related vocabulary of Slavic languages. The potential Proto-Slavic archetypes *žužьmo, *рovelikъ(jь), *lʼudьсi, *žegadlo, *umьrtьje, *zajutrьje have been reconstructed. The dictionary entries under the headings *оgnivъ(jь), *besěda, *bratьja, reconstructed in the Etymological Dictionary of Slavic Languages, as well as свесть, have been supplemented.
