One of the prerequisites for creating a historical dictionary of the Ukrainian language of a certain period is the reliability of the sources on which it is based. The article raises the issue of including lexicons and works of a lexicographic nature in the source base of the Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language of the second half of the 17th–18th centuries. The main lexicographic assets of the corresponding period are characterized in view of their lexical and phonetic features. The importance of dictionaries in the development of Ukrainian lexicography is considered.
