COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS PROCEDURE

The editorial board of the scholarly periodical Ukrainian Linguistic Medieval Studies adheres to the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and responsibility in its publishing activities. In the event of complaints regarding potential ethical violations (including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, improper citation, conflicts of interest, or copyright infringement), the editorial board conducts an impartial and confidential review of the respective claim.

A complaint must be submitted to the editorial office in writing (via email), providing a clear statement of the alleged violation along with supporting evidence or relevant materials. Upon receiving the appeal, the editorial board performs a preliminary analysis and, if necessary, contacts the author, reviewers, or independent experts for explanations. The review process is conducted in accordance with universally accepted international standards of academic ethics and publishing practice.

Based on the findings of the review, the editorial board may decide to:

  • reject the manuscript;
  • require corrections or clarifications;
  • publish a rebuttal or erratum;
  • or, in cases of serious misconduct, retract an already published article.

The editorial board notifies the complainant and interested parties of the outcome. The board also reserves the right to take additional measures aimed at preventing academic ethics violations and maintaining high standards of scholarly publication.

All complaints are handled in accordance with international recommendations on publication ethics, specifically the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles.
